Guitar and Wellness

Reimagining ways we can better serve the community.

Learning to play the guitar opens a door to wonder and creative beauty. Doing this in a group setting deepens one’s sense of connection, belonging and joy. In addition to our regular concert series and our Guitar Horizons program, we have created new and unique partnerships that combine music learning with an emphasis on health and wellness.

Dan Rubright, our manager of community partnerships, has created a hybrid curriculum that incorporates mindfulness and somatic awareness practices to promote focus, confidence and enjoyable learning in addition to guitar basics. This broadened lens has increased excitement and interest from a growing number of organizations that believe this approach would resonate with the people they serve.

Below are some of the groups we are working with -

Veterans

In Partnerships with the Kaufman Fund, a local non-profit that supports the health and wellness of veterans.

DGCKids

An organization that supports middle and high school aged students who are visually impaired.

Oasis

Creates enrichment opportunities to older adults in our community.

St. Louis Children’s Hospital

Serving children and families with guitar centered musical experiences during a time of vulnerability and uncertainty.

We are in conversation with other groups that are interested in our Guitar and Wellness program .
