Guitar & Wellness - New SLCG program

New to SLCG - Guitar and Wellness, a hybrid curriculum that incorporates mindfulness and somatic awareness practices to promote focus, confidence and enjoyable learning in addition to guitar basics. We will be featuring this new program with community partners such as Childrens Hospital, DGC Kids, Veterans Groups, The Oasis Center and more.

Dan Rubright, our manager of community partnerships, created this program concept to reimagine ways we can better serve the community. Learning to play the guitar opens a door to wonder and creative beauty. Doing this in a group setting deepens one’s sense of connection, belonging and joy. This broadened lens has increased excitement and interest from a growing number of organizations that believe this approach would resonate with the people they serve. 

Below are some of the groups in partnership:

Veterans

In Partnerships with the Kaufman Fund, a local non-profit that supports the health and wellness of veterans. 

DGCKids

 An organization that supports middle and high school aged students who are visually impaired. 

Oasis

Creates enrichment opportunities to older adults in our community.
