Shuqing Ma
Shuqing Ma, born in the Liaoning province of China, is a musician and instructor. She moved to various places throughout the United States, eventually landing in St. Louis where she received her Bachelor’s of Arts in music at Webster University in 2020. During her time as a student, she tutored children and English language learners for the Student Literacy Corps. Currently, she is a Teaching Artist at St. Louis Classical Guitar, hoping to share her passion for music throughout the community.
Shu’s various hobbies include audio engineering, motorcycling, parkour, puzzles, wood working/tinkering, skateboarding, and video games.
Noah Carrico
Noah is a guitarist currently studying music at Webster University, pursuing a Jazz Studies Degree. He began teaching beginner guitar lessons in 2023 as a private guitar instructor at a local music store, and has since gone on to teach private guitar lessons in a number of different settings and styles.
As a guitarist Noah has performed in numerous different settings, regularly gigging with local acts in a wide variety of genres. In high school he was recognized as a member of the Missouri All-State Jazz Ensemble three times in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Looking forward, he hopes to keep pursuing a career in music.
Devin Smith
Devin began teaching in early 2018 after attending Webster University, where he studied jazz guitar performance and audio production. He has taught private students of all ages and directed student bands at Dave Simon's Rock School and STL Rock School, and has led Guitar Horizons programs at elementary and high schools in the Ferguson-Florissant and Hazelwood school districts. He's also enjoyed teaching guitar classes through several different summer camps and extracurricular programs in the St. Louis area, including Pianos for People and Make Your MARC.
Devin has played in pit orchestras for several St. Louis theatre companies including Insight, New Line, and Ignite, and has also accompanied Lindbergh's High School Choir. He has done studio and performance work for many different local acts and has performed nationally, touring with and opening for multiple Grammy-nominated artists. He continues to play in original bands in the St. Louis area.
Charlie Albers
Charlie was born in Saint Louis, Missouri and has been teaching music since 2016. He began playing the guitar at the age of 11. Throughout his musical career he has worked with some of the finest players and music educators in the area and from around the world. In addition to receiving his degree from the University of Missouri, where he studied classical guitar under the direction of Alan Rosenkoetter, he has trained with and performed in master classes for Pavel Steidl, Denis Azabagić, and Grisha Goryachev. He has also studied jazz guitar with Rick Haydon at the Southern University of Illinois - Edwardsville. His additional playing experience includes solo recitals and galas, chamber ensembles, local jazz combos, University Jazz Band and numerous live bands hosted at clubs and venues throughout the area. He has also worked with the Arianna String Quartet as a community outreach performer and educator within local Saint Louis area public schools. Charlie resides in Saint Charles County and still teaches and plays in the Saint Louis Metropolitan area.
