Mark Akin with the University City Orchestra - May 11

Our season finale with the University City Symphony Orchestra at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center was beautiful and triumphant!

The Gateway Guitar Quartet started off the program with a 30 minute set, which included their own arrangement of the Moody Blues 'Tuesday Afternoon' and the hymn 'The Water is Wide,' just to name a few. We were blown away by our very own W Mark Akin for his performance of 'Concierto de Aranjuez' with the orchestra as the guitar soloist. Mark performed the concerto with expression, dynamism, and emotion. We were so impressed by the University City Symphony and their conductor Dr. Leon Burke! What an incredible afternoon and collaboration.
