All-Metro Guitar Day 2025
Congratulations to all Guitar Horizons students who performed at our annual Guitar Horizons event 'All-Metro Guitar Day,' which took place on Saturday May 10, at UMSL's Touhill Performing Arts Center! We are so proud of these students who worked hard all year to learn and grow as guitarists!
Guitar students from across the St. Louis area came together to perform in a guitar orchestra and small ensembles, using music from GuitarCurriculum.com (Austin Classical Guitar) and a beyond.
Participating schools included: Larimore Elementary School (Hazelwood), Keeven Elementary School (Hazelwood), Grannemann Elementary School (Hazelwood), Walnut Grove Elementary (Ferguson-Florissant), McCluer North High School (Ferguson-Florissant), St. Louis Language Immersion School, and Foundation Christian Academy - St. Louis, MO.
Bravo to Guitar Horizons teaching artists Shuqing Ma, Devin Smith, Hannah Rainey, and Noah Carrico for their dedication to each class this school year.
Thank you so much to photographer Theo R Welling Photography, LLC. for capturing many wonderful moments during the concert! We are so thrilled that the Guitar Horizons students were able to perform at the beautiful Lee Theater at the Touhill and showcase their hard work and talent.
Thank you very much to the Des Lee Fine Arts Education Collaborative for their support of this program!
Shown above: The Larimore Elementary School Lions Guitar Club did an outstanding job this past All-Metro Guitar Day at the Touhill! This guitar ensemble performed three songs to close out our concert - I Love My White Shoes (Pete the Cat), Izika Zumba, and Three Little Birds (Bob Marley). We were so impressed by these young guitarists! Congratulations to their music teacher Ms. Larissa Young and our guitar teaching artist Shuqing Ma.
